Prime Minister Davis to Attend Brazil-Caribbean Summit in Brasília

Nassau, The Bahamas – Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis will join other Caribbean leaders and represent The Bahamas at the Brazil-Caribbean Summit on June 13, 2025, in Brasília, Brazil.

The summit, held under the theme “Bringing Together to Unite”, will focus on addressing the escalating crisis in Haiti, particularly the increasing violence perpetrated by armed gangs. This critical issue will be at the forefront of discussions, alongside other major regional concerns including energy transition, climate change, food security, disaster risk management and Brazil-Caribbean Connectivity.

The summit brings together leaders from Brazil, Cuba, and the ten CARICOM member states, providing an essential platform for regional cooperation on pressing matters affecting the Caribbean and Latin America. Prime Minister Davis is expected to engage in productive dialogue with his counterparts, strengthening the ties between Brazil and The Bahamas, as well as broader Caribbean interests.

A significant portion of the discussions will also be dedicated to preparing for the upcoming COP30 conference, which Brazil will host in Belém this November. The summit will serve as an opportunity for Caribbean and Latin American leaders to align their positions and strategies for the global climate talks.

Prime Minister Davis will return to The Bahamas on Saturday, June 14, 2025. During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. I. Chester Cooper will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
