Statement on changes to funeral and wedding services

In accordance with the Emergency Powers (COVID 19 Pandemic) (Risk Management) (No.4) (Amendment) (No. 9) Order, 2021, the following changes to weddings and funerals take effect Thursday 18 March 2021:

A graveside funeral may now be held with a maximum of 40 persons, not including the officiant and mortuary workers, on the islands of Acklins, Andros, Berry Islands, Bimini, Cat Island, Chub Cay, Crooked Island, Elbow Cay, Exuma Cays, Inagua, Mayaguana, Grand Bahama, Grand Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Harbour Island, Long Cay, Long Island, Man-O-War Cay, Ragged Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador and Spanish Wells. 

On the islands of New Providence, Abaco, Exuma and Eleuthera: 

A wedding may now be held in a religious facility, provided that the number of attendees is limited to one third of the capacity of the facility and that physical distancing, mask wearing and sanitization protocols, and protocols issued by the Bahamas Christian Council and approved by the Ministry of Health are followed.

A graveside or internment may now be held with a maximum of 40 persons, not including the officiant and mortuary workers.

Physical distancing, mask-wearing and sanitization protocol requirements remain in place for all islands of The Bahamas.
