Five Thousand and Rising: Bahamians Embrace Upskill Bahamas!

With great delight, we can confirm that just ten days after launch, more than five thousand eligible Bahamians have already registered for the free courses and certifications offered by our online learning initiative, Upskill Bahamas.

Upskill Bahamas is an innovative online initiative designed to provide Bahamians with valuable opportunities for skill development. Upskill offers a range of courses aimed at enhancing employability, supporting career advancement, and assisting entrepreneurs in starting or expanding their businesses.

With free access to top-notch online courses, Bahamians can now earn certifications in the skills valued most by our local employers.

Bahamians have responded to Upskill with great enthusiasm, selecting courses like Digital Marketing, Business Finance, and Artificial Intelligence, when they register on upskillbahamas.com.

Bahamians across the country are logging on to level up— from students eager to learn new skills to professionals looking to enhance careers to entrepreneurs who want to strengthen their business plans and skills.

“I know many Bahamians are ready to close the possibility gap – the gap between where they are now, and where they can be, with support and upskilling,” said the Prime Minister, “At a time when technology is changing quickly, there are new challenges but also new opportunities. There are many different paths to success, and I know Upskill will help unlock new possibilities. We are all lifelong learners now!”.

Minister Hanna-Martin urged Bahamians to take a look at upskillbahamas.com, noting that “Because our people have a diverse range of interests and talents, there is a diverse range of courses – including courses for Bahamians working in tourism and agriculture, as well as caregivers, teachers, web designers, nail technicians, and more.” The Minister noted that Upskill is a modern way to uphold our country’s founding principles and mission, “Upskill Bahamas is one way we are empowering Bahamians in the 21st century, part of our broader effort to expand opportunities.”

Upskill Bahamas complements our DigiLearn programme, which offers courses with BTVI and with the University of The Bahamas, in basic computing, in Microsoft Office, and in e-commerce.

Our administration’s WiFi in the Parks programme continues to expand access to highspeed Internet, and our JUMP programme with BTC is designed to help families with connectivity and laptops.

We are working hard to bridge digital divides and to make sure Bahamians are ready to seize new opportunities, so we can celebrate a new generation of Bahamian success stories.
