NASSAU, The Bahamas — As the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season approaches, the Office of the Prime Minister continues to lead national disaster readiness efforts through its ongoing monthly Disaster Preparedness Meetings. These high-level sessions are designed to align the work of critical agencies to ensure consistent tracking and coordination of disaster management plans across the archipelago.
On May 19, senior representatives from the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit, the Disaster Risk Management Authority, and the Department of Meteorology convened to assess the country’s readiness. Discussions focused on shelter preparedness, emergency operations, public awareness, and inter-agency collaboration.
Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis, KC, underscored the Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods:
“Preparation is the most powerful tool we have. As we approach the hurricane season, we urge every Bahamian to stay alert, secure your homes, and follow official updates. Together, we’ll weather any storm that comes our way.”
With less than two weeks until the official start of the 2025 hurricane season on June 1st, the Office of the Prime Minister reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that all emergency response mechanisms remain active, communities are engaged, and government agencies are fully mobilized.
All Bahamians are encouraged to begin their preparations for what is expected to be an active hurricane season.
