Press Release on Prime Minister Davis’s Travel to New York City

Prime Minister Hon. Philip E. Davis KC MP will travel to New York to participate in the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2023, scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19. He will deliver remarks on Monday, emphasizing The Bahamas’ commitment to global collaboration on pressing issues like Climate Change.

In addition to the CGI, Prime Minister Davis will engage in key meetings at the United Nations General Assembly. During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Chester Cooper will serve as Acting Prime Minister.

The CGI 2023 will convene global leaders to tackle challenges such as climate change, health care, and gender-based violence. Last year’s conference saw over 140 global commitments, including significant pledges towards water and sanitation.

Attendees this year will include global leaders such as World Bank President Ajay Banga, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres, and Ford Foundation CEO Darren Walker, among other prominent figures.

Prime Minister Davis’s attendance underscores The Bahamas’ proactive role in addressing global challenges. He is set to return on Wednesday.
