Press Statement on Prime Minister Davis’s Travel to Jamaica

The Office of the Prime Minister announces that Prime Minister Hon. Philip Davis KC MP will be travelling to Jamaica from tomorrow for a two-day weekend visit in his official capacity as Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

Prime Minister Davis will host a critical gathering with key Haitian stakeholder groups to address Haiti’s current political, security, and economic challenges.

The Prime Minister is acting in concert with the Eminent Persons Group, appointed by CARICOM, which is made up of a number of esteemed individuals from the region. They are charged with facilitating a strategic dialogue between CARICOM and stakeholders in Haiti. The Group’s Members are the Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Hon. Bruce Golding, the Former Prime Minister of St Lucia, Hon. Dr Kenny Anthony, and the Former Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Rt Hon. Perry Christie.

In Prime Minister Davis’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Chester Cooper and Minister Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister. Prime Minister Davis will return to The Bahamas on Monday.
