NASSAU, The Bahamas — Prime Minister Philip Edward “Brave” Davis has officially announced the completion of his new Cabinet and ministerial appointments, marking what he described as “the next phase of the work entrusted to us by the Bahamian people.”
The appointments reflect a government focused firmly on the future, with a ministerial team organized to address major areas of Bahamian life, including education, healthcare, national security, innovation, youth development, energy, culture, agriculture, Family Island advancement, and economic growth.
Speaking during a recent swearing-in ceremony at Government House, the Prime Minister said the new administration carries a mandate to continue moving the country forward while building on the progress achieved over the past five years.
“This country is safe with Brave,” Prime Minister Davis said. “And we are ready for a Brave New Future.”
The newly appointed Cabinet signals a broad and modern approach to governance, with expanded attention to national development, digital innovation, environmental protection, community development, and opportunities for young Bahamians.
Among the appointments:
- I. Chester Cooper continues as Deputy Prime Minister and assumes responsibility for Education, Science and Technology;
- Michael Halkitis will serve as Minister of Finance;
- Wayne Munroe assumes the portfolio of Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs;
- Fred Mitchell remains Minister of Foreign Affairs;
- Glenys Hanna Martin assumes the post of Minister of Tourism;
- Dr. Michael Darville continues as Minister of Health and Wellness;
- Clay Sweeting remains Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs;
- Keith Bell continues as Minister of Housing, with new responsibility for Land Reform;
- Jobeth Coleby-Davis remains Minister of Energy, with newly added responsibility for Utilities and Aviation;
- Jomo Campbell is Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources;
- Pia Glover-Rolle assumes the role of Minister of Labour, Public Service and National Insurance;
- Ginger Moxey continues as Minister for Grand Bahama;
- Myles Laroda assumes the portfolio of National Security;
- Leon Lundy takes on the portfolio of Minister of Transport;
- Lisa Rahming is Minister of Urban Renewal and Community Development;
- Leslia Miller-Brice is Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage;
- Mario Bowleg takes responsibility for Youth and Sports;
- Sebas Bastian will oversee Innovation and National Development;
- Zane Lightbourne assumes responsibility for Environment and Natural Resources;
- Senator Jerome Fitzgerald is Minister of Economic Affairs;
- Senator Barbara Cartwright is Minister of Social Services;
- Bacchus Rolle is Minister of State for Social Services;
- Wayde Watson is Minister of State for Innovation and National Development;
- Leonardo Lightbourne is Minister of State for Agriculture and Marine Resources, with responsibility for BAMSI;
- Kirk Cornish is Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister;
- McKell Bonaby is Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister;
- Darron Pickstock is Minister of State for Immigration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and
- Owen Wells is Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
The Prime Minister emphasized that public service requires humility, discipline, and a constant connection to the everyday realities facing Bahamian families.
“We cannot become distant from the people. We cannot become comfortable,” he said. “We must make the most of the honour of serving the Bahamian people.”
The Cabinet appointments follow the Progressive Liberal Party’s historic re-election victory, the first time in nearly 30 years that a Bahamian administration has been returned to office for consecutive terms.
Prime Minister Davis said the renewed mandate represents both “a vote of confidence in the past” and “a vote of ambition for the future,” while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities for Bahamians across the Commonwealth to learn, earn, own, and lead.
