Nassau, The Bahamas — Prime Minister Philip E. Davis KC, MP, will depart for New York today, to attend Climate Week NYC 2024, the Concordia Annual Summit, bilateral meetings, and the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). These key events will focus on addressing critical global issues, including climate change and sustainable development.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver the Opening Keynote Address at Climate Week NYC on Sunday, titled “It’s Time to Move Past Business as Usual”. His address will highlight the urgent need for global climate action, particularly focusing on the vulnerabilities of small island developing states (SIDS) like The Bahamas. He will also hold media interviews and engage with global leaders during this pivotal climate event.
On Monday, September 23, Prime Minister Davis will participate in the Concordia Annual Summit, where he will deliver a keynote speech on multilateral cooperation, climate finance, and sustainable development. He will also hold bilateral meetings with international leaders to discuss partnerships aimed at addressing climate change and strengthening economic cooperation.
Due to pre-scheduled commitments, the Prime Minister will return to Nassau on Tuesday, September 24, following these initial engagements. He will travel back to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly, where he is scheduled to speak on Friday, September 27, addressing key issues such as climate justice and international cooperation for sustainable development. Prime Minister Davis will return to Nassau on October 1, 2024.
