Connecting Bahamians to Jobs, Training and Small Business Support

NASSAU, The Bahamas — Prime Minister Philip Davis has launched the nation’s first-ever Opportunity Hub – a nationwide engagement initiative designed to connect Bahamians directly with new and expanding opportunities made available through government programmes across multiple industries.
The initiative ensures that Bahamians everywhere know what opportunities exist, how to access them, and how to shape their continued growth through feedback and participation.
The Opportunity Hub combines two key elements: a Digital Hub, which serves as the central online space for information and engagement on grants, training, apprenticeships, and development programmes across government; and a series of events, which will bring opportunities directly to communities throughout The Bahamas.
Each event will focus on a specific theme and highlight the programmes and partners leading change in that area.
Thursday’s inaugural Opportunity Hub event, which highlighted the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC), brought together government leaders and local entrepreneurs to share ideas on how to help small businesses grow and expand.

“In building the Opportunity Hub, we now have a place where all Bahamians can learn about the new and exciting opportunities being offered throughout the country and across all sectors,” said Prime Minister Davis.
“The Opportunity Hub is about empowering Bahamians, investing in Bahamian ownership, and building a Bahamian economy that works for everyone.”
The event also highlighted grants, funding, and mentorship opportunities available to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
SBDC Executive Director Samantha Rolle hailed the launch as a “powerful milestone” for Bahamian entrepreneurship.
“This inaugural Opportunity Hub event created a space for real connection, allowing entrepreneurs to share their experiences while learning how the SBDC can help turn their ideas into success stories,” Rolle said.
Entrepreneur Taneika Gibson described the experience as invaluable.
“It was an eye-opener not just to learn about the opportunities being offered to small business people, but also to be able to provide feedback on what business owners like myself need to succeed.”
Prime Minister Davis emphasized that the Opportunity Hub will help ensure that every Bahamian – no matter where they live – has the chance to connect, contribute, and create a better future.
“This is just the first of many Opportunity Hub events that will be hosted in the coming weeks and months,” he said. “I hope to see Bahamians from all walks of life at one of our sessions, and I encourage everyone to visit the Opportunity Hub website to learn more.”
The Opportunity Hub website is now live at opphub.gov.bs.
