Prime Minister Philip Davis’s Remarks at the Opening of the United Estates Community Clinic

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is good to be here with you today.

And it’s a very good day for the great people of San Salvador.

Today, we gather to open the United Estates Community Clinic. It is an investment into the health and wellbeing of this community and a commitment to ensuring accessible healthcare reaches every part of our country.

Because access matters.

Where you live should never determine the quality of care you receive. For too long, families on our family islands have had to navigate distance and limited service when time was of the essence.

Today, we take another step toward changing that reality and glossing that gap.

We are closing a gap between need and service.

A gap between concern and care.

A gap between this community and the level of healthcare every Bahamian deserves.

And this clinic has been designed with that in mind, spanning nearly 3,000 square feet, it has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of this community. Not for show but for function.

With a pharmacy on site, treatment does not have to wait.

With a phlebotomy room, testing does not become a separate journey.

With proper spaces for trauma, care becomes more responsive and efficient.

And, that matters, because in healthcare, time is the difference between complication and recovery. This clinic ensures that essential services are no longer out of reach but available right here in the community. This is what expanding access truly looks like.

Now, as we move forward, we do so within the broader vision which prioritizes the development of our family islands and the wellbeing of our people.

Through investments like this, we are ensuring that communities across the country are not left behind but are positioned to thrive. Because we committed to ensuring that Bahamians live longer, healthier lives.

Across our country we continue to see the impact of chronic diseases but these are conditions that are managed through consistent, and accessible care at the community level.

This community clinic means regular check-ups. Early detection and ongoing treatment. It is the kind of care that keeps people well, not just responds when they are sick. So, this clinic is not just about emergencies, it is about everyday health for the people of San Salvador.

To the healthcare professionals who will serve here, this facility is for you as well because no system works without the people who carry it forward.

You deserve a place that allows you to work efficiently, equipped with the resources necessary to do the best possible job.

And we are committed to continuing to support you in that effort.

I give special recognition to Minister Darville and his team and HF construction and everyone else who helped play a role in bringing this project to life, I say thank you.

I want to speak directly to the people of San Salvador, this is your clinic. Trust it. Use it. Let it service you well. Because, at the end of the day, what matters most is access to quality healthcare.

This is progress.

Real, tangible improvements in people’s everyday lives and although this is forward movement, the work continues, my friends.

It is my honor to declare the United Estates Clinic officially open.
