On Thursday, Prime Minister Minnis took part in the official opening of Eeden Farms, a hydroponic farming company that grows fresh local crops incorporating state-of-the-art technology and processes.
The Prime Minister said that for many decades, Bahamians have lamented the reality that “we have failed to grow more food locally.”
“We have had varying degrees of success over the years, but that is small in comparison to the growing need by Bahamians and visitors for locally-grown food.
“It is against this backdrop that I hail with great enthusiasm the efforts of the principals of Eeden Farms for the role they intend to play in producing more agricultural products.”
The Government wholeheartedly and enthusiastically supports ventures such as Eeden Farms – the brainchild of two young Bahamian men.
“Congratulations and best wishes to Eeden Farms on their innovative venture.
“We look forward with great expectation to a taste of the first harvest, proudly grown in The Bahamas,” said the Prime Minister.
