
Brasilia, Brazil – The Honourable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas participated in the Brazil–Caribbean Summit where he reaffirmed The Bahamas’ commitment to deepening regional cooperation and advancing shared priorities.
Prime Minister Davis expressed his gratitude to Brazil for its support and hospitality throughout the Summit.
During high-level bilateral meetings with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil and Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa of the Republic of Cuba, the leaders agreed to strengthen collaboration and mutual support within regional and international bodies.
The Prime Minister and President Lula also presided over the signing of a critical Technical Cooperation Agreement between The Bahamas and Brazil, which will enhance joint efforts in areas such as food security, disaster management, education, and climate resilience.
As part of the Summit’s outcomes, The Bahamas pledged to join the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, an initiative launched under Brazil’s G20 presidency to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals. The Alliance leverages evidence-based policy solutions and pooled resources to deliver measurable results in eradicating hunger, reducing poverty, and addressing inequality.
For The Bahamas, these partnerships mean greater access to expertise, resources, and innovative solutions that directly support national development, reduce costs for Bahamian families and strengthen capacity to withstand future shocks.
Prime Minister Davis reiterated The Bahamas’ firm commitment to multilateralism, inclusive dialogue, and practical action for the well-being of all citizens across the region.
