The National Youth Guard (NYG) trains young Bahamians to respond to national emergencies and equips them with job-ready skills. Over a three-month intensive programme, recruits receive professional instruction in disaster preparedness, maritime safety, and civic duty, followed by real-world post-training placements across the country. More than 400 graduates have completed the programme, many serving in national response efforts during hurricanes and other emergencies.
Bahamian citizens ages 18–25 who are service-oriented and can successfully complete a drug test and physical and mental fitness assessment.

The Fresh Start Programme helps young Bahamians prepare for meaningful employment through work-readiness training, internships, and stipends that support their transition into sustainable jobs. The programme builds confidence, soft skills, and practical experience, empowering participants to enter the workforce with purpose and professionalism.
Open to Bahamian youth who meet programme screening and assessment requirements.

The National Youth Summer Employment Programme offers young Bahamians the opportunity to gain real work experience while earning a summer income. Participants receive job-readiness training and are placed in public and private sector roles, helping them build professional skills, discipline, and confidence for future employment.
Held annually during the summer months, the programme provides a valuable first step into the world of work and fosters civic responsibility among the nation’s youth.
Open to students 15 and up. Applications open in May.
