Lowering costs for families by:

  • Ending the curfew and travel visa, restoring commerce.
  • Reducing VAT from 12% to 10%, a move which means more disposable income for Bahamian households.
  • Allocating $50 Million to small business development. 
  • Promoting food security by allotting $1.5 million to the Ministry of Agriculture for agricultural technology, training, and capacity building.

Providing support for Bahamians

  • Cutting import duties for dozens of food items (link to the reductions). 

  • Implementing price controls and expanding consumer protections

  • Moulding a more livable Bahamas with a 24% increase to the minimum wage

  • Increasing salaries and pensions for public officers; solidifying agreements with nurse and teachers’ unions to increase pay and establish retention bonuses.

Expanding economic opportunities

  • Boosting funding for social assistance by 50% compared to pre-pandemic levels

  • Allotting $500K for a new women’s shelter, to protect those affected by domestic violence.

  • Implementing a 10% increase in funding to NGOs under Social Services, to better distribute resources to those in need.

  • Improving access to vital health care serves through a $10 Million for a new Catastrophic Care Fund

  • Launching a Home Assistance Repair Programme in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, and Bimini, to alleviate the economic burdens of increasingly frequent and severe weather events. 

  • Building hundreds of new affordable houses, and cutting VAT and other taxes related to building materials and property transfers.

  • Expanding access to affordable housing and rent-to-own programs
